WBro John Walker PProvSGD – Personal 50th

On 28 March 2024, over 40 brethren met at Middleton Masonic Hall for the personal 50th celebration of WBro John Walker PProvSGD.

The night was light hearted and it was clear the respect the brethren have for John and his years of service to the craft. Following the meeting the brethren retired to a joyful and special social board picked by John himself.

Here is a summary of John’s history:

John was born in 1938 and grew up in Denton. During the war he lived in Cheshire in Elton. As his father worked at Stanlow
he came to Manchester in 1945 following the end of the war and lived in Cheetham. In 1958 John was allowed a months leave from the Army to marry his wife, Margaret. Following the wedding John returned to the Army and headed off to Cyprus. In
1959 came back to live in Middleton, and joined the Police Force.

John was initiated into Imperial George Lodge in March 1974, and was passed and raised the same year. John served his lodge as Steward until 1976, Asst. Secretary from 1976 to 1983, Junior Warden in 1983, Senior Warden in 1984 and  in 1985 he was installed in to the chair of King Solomon by John Lamb Snr.

John has also served as Tyler for many years following.

We all thank you John for your service to freemasonry and hope you also have many more enjoyable years to come.
