On the 22 January 2025, 50 years to the day since his exhaltation, Hollingworth Chapter 2702 came together to celebrate the Golden Anniversary of EComp David Moore PPGScN.
The Chapter was formed in due order, and the three Principles welcomed EComp Steven Boyle PGStB, Assistant Provincial Grand Principle accompanied by a Provincial Delegation.
The convocation was called off and family and friends of David joined the celebrations.
David was placed in the centre of the lodge, accompanied by his wife, where he was presented with an illuminated certificate, a letter of congratulations from E.Comp Robert Ian Frankl Provincial Grand Principle and a commemorative pin badge to indicate 50 years within Royal Arch.
During the Festive Board, Michael Boden and David Hoyle both gave personal tributes to David, commenting on his dedication to Royal Arch freemasonry and the lifelong friendships made.

Ladies, Gentlemen & Companions you have already heard about the R.A. Mason we know as EComp H David Moore, it is now my privilege to inform you of some of the highlights of his personal life.
David was born in 1937 in Dobcross, West Riding of Yorkshire, as his son Johnathan said “He could have played cricket for Yorkshire if he had had an aptitude for cricket!”
Fast forward 10 Years and we find that David started attending Hulme Grammar School until 1954 when he attended Manchester College of Technology to study Pure Photography.
In 1955 he met a young lady who was to pay a big part in his life, I refer to Miss Marylyn Timperley. A year later we find him cycling to Land’s End and back, a journey of 1,000 miles; I presume he spent some time in Cornwall before the return journey.
In January 1959 David joined the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority as a Scientific & Industrial Photographer at Capenhurst and later he moved to UKAEA Risley & Culceth Laboratories.
In 1961 David and Marylyn were married, on the glorious 12th, they have two sons; Andrew was born in 1963 and Johnathan was born in 1971. In 1975 David left UKAEA to join his father-in-law’s Electrical Constructing Company.
The family enjoyed several holidays in Denmark until they realised that the weather there was very similar to our own so they transferred their allegiance to the Greek Islands, I have no doubt influenced by David, who I believe spent most of his National Service in Cyprus. They enjoyed these Holidays so much that David & Marylyn took Greek lessons and became quite fluent in it.
Unfortunately, in 1984 the Electrical Company closed due to lack of orders and David set up an online payroll service for local companies. On the 15t June 1987 David was appointed School’s Bursar and Clerk to the Governors at Hulme Grammar School, a post he occupied until 2002, David & Marylyn celebrated their Diamond Jubilee in 2021, a family affair only because of the Covid restrictions. They have 3 Granddaughters & 1 Grandson, 1 Great-granddaughter & 1 Great-grandson, they are expecting their 3rd Great-grandchild in February.
David hasn’t been idle in retirement having taken an interest in Genealogy he has traced the Moore family back to 1766 in Almondbury and the Timperley family back to 1761 in Partington. He is presently one of 4 Archivists at Hulme Grammer School cataloguing documents from the early 1660s to the present day. I also believe that he still does the Crossword in the Daily Telegraph every day.
