About this Lodge

Historical Background – Why, how, where, by whom and when was it established Lodge Consecrated in December 1948 – following the end of the 2nd World War a lot of men having survived the ordeal and returned to civilian life missed the fraternal institution of the Armed Forces and Masonry saw a huge increase in its ranks. Lodge numbers swelled which meant some members took time to progress in the offices and ranks in each established Lodge. It was because of this reason many new lodges were born out of these
wellestablished lodges with some of its experienced members forming a new lodge. Prince Edwin’s Lodge No 128 saw the birth of Lodge of Hope No 54 from its ranks and in time Saint Chad’s Lodge No 1129 and The Rochdale Lodge No 6721 were formed in response to the numbers joining Freemasonry.

Meeting place and frequency of meetings – Annual fees and dining charges.

The Rochdale Lodge meets on the 4th Monday of each month from September to May inclusive with its main Installation meeting in February.

The December meeting being held in the month of its consecration is always referred to the ‘Lodge Birthday Party’ and is celebrated as such with entertainment ranging from a traditional Brass Band, Murder Mystery to a Traditional Pantomime performed by Lodge Members as well as a traditional Christmas meal attended by Lodge Brethren and their family members and guests. The Lodge’s traditional Ladies Evening is held annually on the Second Saturday in November. Lodge Annual Fees vary each year due to the fees
payable to Provincial Grand Lodge, United Grand Lodge, the Rochdale Buildings and increases in Lodge Meals.

Members pay for their Lodge Festive Board meals in advance apart from the Birthday Party and Installation and are approximately £300 in total.
