About this Lodge

Keystone Lodge No 363 is a Masonic Lodge in the Province of East Lancashire, warranted by The United Grand Lodge of England. It is well-established, with a history going back to 1820. It has a good reputation for some of the best ceremonial and rituals in the Rochdale District.

A group of Masons from Blackburn, members of United Brethren Lodge 666 (now number 346), and four other lodges became petitioners for the formation of Keystone Lodge. The creation took place in 1820, on 29th May; The details of the formation of this group can be found in Grand Lodge records.

Keystone Lodge No 722 initially held their meetings at the Shoemaker’s Arms (now known as The New Hall Inn in Salmesbury near Preston) in Lancaster. From 1825 to 1835, Keystone Lodge met at the Duke of Wellington at Walton-le-Dale.

The meeting venue changed in January 1858 to the New Inn, Whitworth Near Rochdale, after initiating its landlord. In December 1865, the minutes revealed that the Lodge number has changed to 363. Rochdale Masonic Temple was built in 1926. On 26th January 1928, Keystone Lodge made a move to Richard Street.
