About this Lodge

On 21st August 1752 in the twenty-fifth year of the reign of King George II, this lodge was granted its warrant and was number 219 in the register of Grand Lodge. Since then it has met during the reign of ten Monarchs, existed within four centuries and underwent a move from London to Middleton which took place in 1805.

The Lodge meets at Middleton Masonic Hall situated within the Province of East Lancashire.

The Lodge meets on the last Thursday on the month from September to April apart from the Installation of the Worshipful Master which takes place on the third Saturday in January.

Whilst the Lodge does not have a dedicated focus or theme it is an all-round lodge with members from all walks of life and professions. We take pride in the Ceremonies we produce and support local and Masonic charitable causes.

We currently have 26 members who are based both locally, throughout the UK and abroad currently we have members who reside in West Yorkshire, East Midlands and Lanzarote. However whilst the members from a distance attend regularly and play a valuable role in the lodge the view to the future must be to recruit suitable members who are local to the lodge.

In terms of the recruitment of new members in the past the lodge has relied mainly on recommendations of existing members however this has not always been successful and we aim to plan a strategic recruitment drive in the local area in 2021/2022. To accommodate the possibility of new members and therefore more ceremonies   Lodge members may have to consider moving several social board events such as the Saint Georges night to a social event.

An ideal profile of a candidate would be a man of good standing between the ages of 21 and 50 to ensure we have a mix of ages to take the lodge forward for future success.
